At about 4-6 months you can start to introduce your baby to solids depending if your baby is ready and your pediatrician gives you the okay. I started my son at 4 months. The first foods I introduced were baby cereal. (nothing with rice) In the very beginning, I kept doing just the cereal for a solid month and once his stomach was able to digest it well I started to introduce other foods.
SIDE NOTE: Once your baby starts to eat cereal or any solids in that matter it is normal for them to have diarrhea for a few days.
THE BEST PUREES FOR STEP 1
Always make sure to try new fruits or veggies alone for 3 days consecutively to make sure they are not allergic
Baby Cereal
- Oat cereal was the first cereal I introduced.
- Barley cereal this I also did later
- Wheat cereal this I did at stage 2
- Rice cereal I would do this last since it sometimes constipates them.
Veggie Purees
- Carrots
- Sweet potato
- Squash
- Pea
- Avocado
- Pumpkin
Fruit Puree
- Apple
- Pear
- Prunes
- Bananas
Those were my step 1 purees. Since my child at 4 months, I took my time to really introduce them one at a time before starting to mix right away. Your doctor will definitely recommend certain purees to you and always ask if you are not sure.
