The search is over, homemade crusty bread without using a cast iron pot! There are a lot of crusty bread recipes out there but the majority of them are cooked in a cast-iron pot. Since I didn’t have one I was looking for that same crusty bread taste but without using a cast iron pot, and guess what, I found it, not only is it an easy recipe it is also delicious.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of dry active yeast
  • 3.5 cups warm water

Instructions

  1. This recipe makes two loafs
  2. In a mixer, mix all ingredients together.
  3.  Cover and place the dough in a cold oven overnight (8-10 hrs)
  4. The next day your dough should double in size
  5. Flour your countertop or table and place the dough on top.
  6. Knead the dough until it is no longer sticky.
  7. Cut dough in half
  8. Place each dough ball in a baking dish lined with parchment paper ( I used corningware)
  9. Put the lid on and, and place it in a cold oven.
  10. Turn the oven on to 450 degrees and bake covered for 30 minutes.
  11. After 30 minutes is over, uncover the bread and bake at 450 degrees for another 30 minutes.

Notes

Serve with a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
