Mini Maple Cones—also known as sucre à la crème cones—are absolutely delicious! These sweet treats are always a crowd favourite at parties and a staple in our home. I make them two different ways: the method below, and the classic sucre à la crème made in the microwave—yes, the microwave! RECIPE HERE

If you’d like to use the microwave version for cones, just let the mixture cool as you would in this recipe, then pour it into mini ice cream cones.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand)
  • 2 tablespoons 35% cooking cream
  • Mini ice cream cones (about 16)

Instructions

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the maple syrup, brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and cream. Stir well to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring with a wooden spoon. Let it cook for 5–7 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  5. Carefully fill the mini cones with the mixture.

Makes: 16 cones
