Here is something that my little one adores! Pastina! He would eat it everyday if I would give it to him. Pastina can be made in so many different ways. If you do not know what pastina is, it is a pasta consisting of tiny pieces. You can buy it at any grocery store.
Here are some great ideas.
PASTINA EGG AND CHEESE
- Cook your pastina pasta in boiling water. Don’t add to much water just enough for the pasta.
- Once cooked. Leave on heat. Lower the heat to low
- In a bowl mix together one egg and cheese about 1/4 cup.
- Add to your pastina and mix together till the egg is cooked.
- Let cool and serve.
*** Make sure you do not have to much water or else it taste like water***
PASTINA with RAW OIL (oglio crudo)
- Cook your pastina pasta in boiling water, Add your salt. Don’t add to much water just enough for the pasta.
- Once cooked, Strain but leave a little bit of water left over.
- Add 1 TBSP of oil ( Your choice) I use regular oil.
- Let cool and serve.
*** If you have left over sauce you can also add 1-2 tbsp. of sauce.***
PASTINA WITH DIFFERENT PUREES
- Cook your pastina pasta in boiling water, Add your salt. Don’t add to much water just enough for the pasta.
- Once cooked, Strain completely.
- Add 1-2 TBSPS of puree of your choice. My favorites are Sweet Potato, Peas, Broccoli, Carrot
- Add a bit of parmesan cheese (Optional)
- Let cool and serve.
BUTTER PASTINA WITH MEATBALLS
- Cook your pastina pasta in boiling water, Add your salt. Don’t add to much water just enough for the pasta.
- Once cooked, Strain completely.
- Add in your fresh meat balls you can break them up into smaller pieces or if you are making them fresh you can make small meatballs just for soups. Check out my meatball recipe here
- Once your meatballs and pastina is finished
- Add 1 Tbsp. of margarine.
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve.
PASTINA MAC AND CHEESE
- Cook your pastina pasta in boiling water, Add your salt. Don’t add to much water just enough for the pasta.
- Once cooked, Strain completely.
- Add in one tbsp of powdered cheese you can buy the powder mac and cheese at bulk barn.
- Serve
